Wrapping Up December

My thoughts on December 2010:

I could totally live in a place where it doesn't snow in December. While the whole country was getting dumped on with either rain or snow, Denver sat here with above temperatures - I loved it.

I'm still trying to figure out if that's why it didn't feel like Christmas was coming. It wasn't until Christmas Eve that it finally felt like Christmas - still without colder temperatures and snow. This Christmas seemed a little more magical as the belief in Santa was stronger than ever. Not that we agree with the commercialization of Christmas nor have it revolve around a man in a big, red suit, but, there's something about your children being children and enjoying the belief and magic. I can't really explain it (as you can tell by the redundancy).

I turned 30 this month. Thirty. I'm still trying to digest it and trying not to be traumatized. It still sounds so old but, when I look back on the road that brought me here, I'm grateful. So grateful.

Ryan and I were asked to play Mary and Joseph in our Ward Christmas Nativity. Sweet Henry was baby Jesus - a BIG baby Jesus. He loved it. He was such a good boy, and behaved so well - especially when Mary sang to him sitting on the floor holding her rather large baby.

I didn't get my camera out as much as I wanted to this month, but I did catch these Christmas morning.

And, look what Santa brought this year...

I think we may be the last people on earth to have one and there was a reason for it. I didn't want the wasted time, the fighting over controllers nor who's beating who. Whatever. It hasn't been too bad. I must say though that Ryan got in the most trouble Christmas Day.

I'm ready for 2011 and wonder what this new year will bring...

"Thismas" 2010

Playing catch-up, here.

"Thismas", you ask? It's Christmas at Thanksgiving - on the Livingstone side. We love to head over to Utah and spend time with my family. Believe it or not, we only made it out there twice this year!

I love this picture - my wonderful parents.

Having fun on a Sunday afternoon

Thanksgiving Day (and Black Friday) we head over to the church for our feast and some serious fun. This year there was volleyball, block-crafting, Rock Band, floor hockey (only kids this time) and it wouldn't be Thismas without opening our gifts from Gpa & Gma, the family exchanges and white elephant.
Sorry only pics of the gifts from G&G.

I am always amazed at my parents effort of making these holidays so special. Every last detail.
(My sister in law, Mindy, made those darling cornucopia's - how cute are they?)

They Make Me Laugh

Lucy: Mom - you wrote on my freakin homework!
Me: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.
Ryan: Nice use of freakin, Lucy.
_____________________________________________________________

Clay: But I don't like grilled cheese.
Lucy: What about boy cheese?
____________________________________________________________

Mike, one of the counselors in our bishopric has a daughter (in her early 30s) that was just called as a counselor in the primary presidency. He went into Primary to speak to the children (as the bishopric member) when his daughter was finishing sharing time. We were there to hear Rylee say an Article of Faith.
Ryan leans over to Mike: are you here to watch your daughter, too?
___________________________________________________________

Me: Kaycee, will you go make us a yummy dinner?
Her eyes get huge.
Kaycee: uh, I could make some stew...if it was already made...
___________________________________________________________

Lucy staring at a young girl at Costco.
Lucy: She has no hair.
Me: Nope, she doesn't, does she. She might be sick.
Lucy: No, her mom pulled it all out.
____________________________________________________________

Yesterday, we moved Clay down to his own room.
Rylee: Mom, Clay will need a hamper down there.
Me: Yeah, he will.
Clay: What's a hamper?

Learning More and More

I'm learning more and more about myself.
Apparently, I'll do anything for a free t-shirt.
Like run races....and eat one pound hamburgers.
(the weight AFTER being cooked!)

Holding my picture to go on the Wall of Fame.

I ate it.
All by myself.
In less than 30 minutes.
I kept it down, too.
I only had meat sweats for one night and didn't eat again until after lunch the next day.
BUT, I got my free t-shirt:

I ate the
POUNDER
Cheeburger Cheeburger
Lonetree, Colorado

Go me.

I'd like to thank Henry, who is a champ nurser and leaves me constantly hungry - I couldn't have done it without him. And, also, my husband Ryan, for his love and support. You're up next, baby!

Dear Veteran

*Clay claims that he likes it when people call him "Clay-in."
You know, how a Utahn would say it -without the T.
He really does know how to spell his name.

3 Weeks

I can't remember the last time I let my blog go 3 weeks without posting. Sheesh. Let me explain though - and in two words: CRAZY BUSY (as I'm sure many of you are these days as well).

I will be back though. I have a couple more crazy busy weeks -I started a business with a friend that has exploded! - but hopefully you'll see us before Christmas and I can fill you in. Hopefully.

In the meantime, check out what Lucy did to Olivia the day before we left town.
Yeah, I freaked.

It's a good thing though that I live right around the corner from a friend of mine that cuts hair AND that Olivia still looks so stinkin cute!
Even if she looks like an orphan in the first photos.

Be back soon!

If It Weren't For Her

If it weren't for her . . .

We wouldn't have them.

Halloween & Movember 2010

The perks of Halloween 2010:

5 Bags of Candy (twice!)

and . . .

Not paying a dime for any costumes - thanks to my fabulous Mother! and our dress-ups.

Check out this looker!

I wish I could say this was Ryan's Halloween costume, but alas it wouldn't be November without Movember. So yes, I have to look at this man ALL month. While it's for a great cause, I say once he hits $1k in donations he needs to shave!

I think there should be donations for the wives if your
hubby's gonna look like this for a month!

They Make Me Laugh

It's always fun when Grandma comes - cause look what she can do!

One Sunday afternoon Ryan and I are talking about going to check on G&G's house (they were out of town).
Kaycee pipes up: Can we make ourselves dinner over there?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry starts coughing.
Olivia yells: don't barf! (and grabs the burp cloth.)
Me: I don't think he spit up.
Olivia: Oh.
Henry starts coughing again.
Olivia: bless you, bless you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Our chiropractor had been gone for just over a week in Zimbabwe. On his first day back, Clay jumps up on the table.

Clay: Where were you?
Dr. Kevin: I was in Africa!
Clay: You smell like it.

Henry's Blessing Day

Clay's 8th Birthday
(just two days after Ryan's 32nd)

Clay's Baptism

A wonderful day.

Especially to see my boys in white.
Thank you to all who came and celebrated with us.

Celebrating the Land Up North

My Canadian pennant banner made that Sunday afternoon - thanks to my awesome Silhouette,
staples and ribbon.

A couple Sundays ago we decided to Celebrate the Land Up North in honor of Canadian Thanksgiving the following day. So pretty last minute we thought it would be fun to invite some friends over.

Each family brought a dessert (extra points if it was Canadian-related) and we had a good time. We uncovered some myths about the Land up North, and collectively (no help from me) named the 10 provinces and 3 territories.

I didn't think to pull the camera out until the evening was over so I didn't get a chance to catch the lovely desserts and goodies which included, crepes, maple leaf cookies - cut by hand!, mini Hawaiian pizzas with what Americans would call "Canadian bacon", cupcakes with the nation's flag on top (made by yours truly) and the dessert that really made the evening festive:

Nanaimo Bars!
A personal victory for me making them and them tasting awesome! (Recipe here)

It was a great evening and we hope to carry the tradition on for many more years.

. . . and maybe next year we'll have more space to invite more people!

Mark Your Calendars!

It was taking pictures for this event that spurred taking all the pictures of the kids (below).
Last year, I paid a gal on Etsy for Rylee's invitation, but figured out how to do it myself this year.
Ryan was afraid I'd girly it up too much, but I think the simplicity was okay for him. I love you, Ryan

And, to add to the special-ness of Clay being baptized on his actual birthday, we're blessing Henry in Sacrament Meeting that morning as well.
It should be a glorious day - we hope you can make it!

Fall 2010 - Kid Pics

After snapping hundreds (literally!) of photos over several days, here are my favorites.

Enjoy!

Miss Rylee

Clay Boy

Kaycee Ruth

Lucy Lu

Little O

Baby Henry

I must say that I am SO GLAD I didn't pay anyone to take the pictures of all the kids together. Not just because free is nice, or that I think I have skill even close to a good photographer, but because this was pure insanity. It was a chillier day and the kids were not jiving with the whole idea. It was hard trying to get good angles and get some decent shots, but after about 100 shots, these are my favorites.

And

Phew!

Thank to my amazing assistant for hauling the couch out and following my requests/orders.

Inside This Head of Mine

It seems like there has been so much going on, yet at the same time, not much at all. I've had some things on my mind lately - so bear with my random-ness.

I can't believe it's already October. We've had some fabulous weather and when I thought we'd finally gotten a sweater day, the sun poked out and it warmed right back up again. I tried to wear a sweatshirt yesterday at the park and about roasted myself. Whether we get the nice Fall weather though it'll be Halloween before we know it. However, we've got a few things happening before then. Like: parent-teacher conferences, Ryan leaving to go hunting for a week (I think I might die), his birthday - which he won't be home for, Clay's birthday - which will consist of his baby brother's blessing and then being baptized that afternoon (invite posted soon!), and it seems the list goes on. Oh well.

I'm pretty sure my neighbor doesn't read our blog, so he won't mind me saying that I think he may have some OCD going on and I'd like to tell him he's making us look bad. He keeps his lawn gorgeously manicured - I'm talking mowing 2 times a week while ours will go weeks without being mowed. Thanks for nothing. Right now with the leaves falling, his lawn looks freshly vacuumed while ours looks like there's stuff all over the floor. (And I bet if we were to compare family rooms it wouldn't be a far stretch from our lawns... the grass really is greener (and perfectly clipped) on the other side!)

There is a dead bird rotting on my deck. Don't even know what else to say about that.

I went to the dentist last week. I wanted to keep my streak of no cavities and since they couldn't do x-rays last time (because I was pregnant) they did x-rays this time. You know what they found? Eight (8!) cavities. Ones you wouldn't see without x-rays. I should have told them I was pregnant again.

I was putting Olivia in her car seat the other day and I told her how cute she was. She responds "ah know."

Making three lunches and getting everyone breakfast in the morning is kicking my butt. And, don't say to do it in the evening, I'm just as tired then.

I'm pretty sure my deep-set eyes are sinking deeper into my head. I wonder if they'll actually fall in some day.

I'm getting itchy to move. I crave a house that I will love. I'm grateful for our house now but I've never loved it. The layout is absolutely ridiculous, and we need more bedrooms. I've loved the neighborhood, but I need something different. That doesn't mean the house is ready/finished, but I am. I'm already concocting our next house in my head. Now if only we had 400k laying around. . .

I need something clever. Something clever to tell strangers when they ask me if I'm going to have more kids. Hello. So personal. Why do people think that's ok? I don't get it. I usually just smile and say "I think we're good with 6," but I want something that will kind of zing 'em. Something that might make them laugh, but then realize that "hmm, maybe I shouldn't have asked that." I was on my way to an OB appt in Ryan's truck and he had a Ziz Ziglar disc playing. A guest speaker was introducing himself and said he had six kids. I smiled. Then he said "we only have 6 kids because my wife doesn't like children." That me me laugh. I need something like that.

My favorite line from General Conference: "You Stupid Cow." Not sure we'll ever hear that again. (great talk here)

I've been taking pictures of the kids. Their own little photo shoots. I've taken some pretty awesome ones too (if I do say so myself). Tomorrow I'll take pictures of the kids together in the back yard (which may or may not include dragging a couch out there). I'll post pics soon.

Henry has outgrown the bassinet so it's time to move Olivia to a twin bed and pass the crib onto the babe....do you know what this means? We can kiss O's naps good-bye. (Although she did fall asleep on the floor yesterday (again). So I guess we'll have to see).

Hey, look at that. It may just be a sweater-day today after all.

Have a good one!

Paper Bag O Love

That's right. A paper bag filled with love.

Well, actually a bazillion containers (finally being returned after several months) that were once filled with left-overs. Scrumptious left-overs brought home every Sunday from dinners at G&G Hunt's.

When Ryan was growing up (when they lived in Utah), they spent every Sunday at their Grandparent's house. How lucky we are to be able to do that with our kids.

Truly a blessing.

(And truly fabulous food!)

New Styles

I cut Rylee some bangs this morning. Doesn't she look grown up? sniff sniff
I got my hair cut on Saturday. It's more of an A-line although I've been straightening it until I buy a round brush.

Note to self: don't post a picture next to Rylee - she's gorgeous.
