Funny Kid

Henry and Clay July 2014

Henry's funnies lately:

Getting after his siblings for not letting him watch one of his shows.
Henry: Fine! I'll go watch my shows in mom's room - by myself!
(walking away) Come on, Olivia.

Henry came with Rylee, Clay and I to tour their middle school, yesterday.
Showing us the Art Room, the 8th grader leading our tour, says: you'll have class time over on this side, but you'll move over here when you get to do things like clay projects. It's pretty cool when you get to do stuff with clay.
Walking out of the art room, Henry: Does he know my name, too?

Henry clearly doing the 'potty dance'.
Me: Henry go potty.
Henry: I don't need to go potty, I'm doing the chicken dance.

They Make Me Laugh - Hidden Treasure

I just found these little gems that I had documented back in December 2010.

Talking about kissing
Clay: Well, you have to when he proposes.
Kaycee: What's proposes?
Me: When he asks you to marry him.
Clay: He doesn't just say will you marry me. He says other stuff too.
Kaycee: Yes, like I give all my love to you.

Lucy at 8:30pm: You shouldn't eat gumballs at midnight, Mom.

****************************************************

The kids got some glow sticks in their stockings.
Lucy puts them around her neck, waist, wrists and ankles.
Lucy: Come on Kace, let's go kill ET.

****************************************************
Today

Lucy pulls out a Wii controller to play Super Mario Bros.
She puts her arms in the air and says, I better stretch.

They Make Me Laugh

We were cleaning Lucy and Olivia's room
and while I was in the closet with my back turned, Lucy says:

Look at my eyes, Mom. Aren't they wonderful?

They Make Me Laugh

Lucy: Mom - you wrote on my freakin homework!
Me: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.
Ryan: Nice use of freakin, Lucy.

Clay: But I don't like grilled cheese.
Lucy: What about boy cheese?

Mike, one of the counselors in our bishopric has a daughter (in her early 30s) that was just called as a counselor in the primary presidency. He went into Primary to speak to the children (as the bishopric member) when his daughter was finishing sharing time. We were there to hear Rylee say an Article of Faith.
Ryan leans over to Mike: are you here to watch your daughter, too?
___________________________________________________________

Me: Kaycee, will you go make us a yummy dinner?
Her eyes get huge.
Kaycee: uh, I could make some stew...if it was already made...

Lucy staring at a young girl at Costco.
Lucy: She has no hair.
Me: Nope, she doesn't, does she. She might be sick.
Lucy: No, her mom pulled it all out.

Yesterday, we moved Clay down to his own room.
Rylee: Mom, Clay will need a hamper down there.
Me: Yeah, he will.
Clay: What's a hamper?

They Make Me Laugh

It's always fun when Grandma comes - cause look what she can do!

One Sunday afternoon Ryan and I are talking about going to check on G&G's house (they were out of town).
Kaycee pipes up: Can we make ourselves dinner over there?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry starts coughing.
Olivia yells: don't barf! (and grabs the burp cloth.)
Me: I don't think he spit up.
Olivia: Oh.
Henry starts coughing again.
Olivia: bless you, bless you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Our chiropractor had been gone for just over a week in Zimbabwe. On his first day back, Clay jumps up on the table.

Clay: Where were you?
Dr. Kevin: I was in Africa!
Clay: You smell like it.

They Make Me Laugh

Kaycee(singing): Flor-eye, flor-eye, you need glasses to see.
Me: what's that from?
Kaycee: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (the movie).
Me: Oh.
Kaycee keeps singing.
Me: it's actually four eyes, Kace. When people wear glasses, sometimes they're called four eyes.
Kaycee: Glasses would be REALLY hard if you had four eyes!

*******************************************************************

Lucy: Mom, tell Kaycee it's not her job to be mean.
Me: It's no one's "job" to be mean, Lucy.
Lucy: it's your job....and Dad's job...

A few weeks later Lucy was at the pool with my mom.
Another Gma was telling her granddaughter it was time to get out of the pool

Lucy: I don't think that lady was her grandma.
My mom: you don't? (the lady was clearly her gma.)
Lucy: nope. it was her mom. She was mean to her.

*******************************************************************

Kaycee: Mom, Clay kicked me in the nuts!

They Make Me Laugh - Lucy Edition & Baby News

Lucy: Mom? Teenagers aren't teenagers.
Me: Oh yeah?
Lucy: yup. Teenagers aren't teenagers. They're freaks.
Me: (thinking) Who has she been talking to?

Lucy grabbing her chalk (from her birthday) to go play outside.
Lucy: Mom, Kaycee CANNOT use this chalk.
Me: Why not? You don't want to share?
Lucy: It says right here (following a line of text with her finger) NOT for Kaycee. Only for Lucy.
Me: Oh.
(right, cause you can read...)

Lucy sitting down to dinner yells: ORDER UP!
I don't know where she gets it.

In Baby News:
I got to see our babe today. By ultrasound, of course. Last week at my appointment my dr. informed me that I had always measured weird and was measuring 2 weeks behind. I wasn't concerned - this wasn't anything new (especially with the last 3 girls), but she had me come in today to have the ultrasound. Who passes up an ultrasound? Not me.

Baby comes up on the screen and the first measurement of the baby is his head. I'm 33 weeks today so when the baby's head came in measuring 35 weeks, I was pretty excited. I get to measure smaller on the outside while the baby measures ahead on the inside sounds like a pretty good deal to me! After the tech measured the stomach, femur etc., he's measuring right where he should be. A nice, healthy 4lbs 9oz or there about. So really, he just has a big head bumping him up. Sounds like a fun delivery doesn't it :)

They Make Me Laugh - Listening to Kaycee & Lucy

Here are some things I heard from Kaycee and Lucy this past week.

Kaycee is the queen of making up songs. Her latest:
"I love Mom just a teeny bit more than Grandma,
Just a teeny bit more than Grandpa."

Lucy hears me burp.
Lucy:"Mom, say excuse me."
Me: "Oh yes, excuse me."
Lucy looks away and disappointedly says "moms don't burp."

Bless my Mom's heart, she mailed us everything we'd left behind in Utah - which made a pretty good sized package! Thanks, mom! When we opened the package, Kaycee grabs her glitter ball and puts it up to her nose.
KC: "ahh, it smells like Grammies."
Me: "Really?" (you sure it doesn't smell like rubber??)
KC: "No, it actually smells like Sicily." (her cousin)
Me: "Sicily? What does Sicily smell like?"
KC: "Like cotton balls."

By now Lucy is smelling Clay's football and quietly says " I don't smell Grammies."

Kaycee being sweet holding one of Lucy's hands while I put a band aid on a cut finger on the other. Kaycee gasps "Lucy! Don't put up that finger - that's your swear finger!"

Sitting by Olivia on the couch, she grabs a movie case and shoves it in my robe. Nice.

Fun Being Me

Examples:

Today. Kaycee is out of Kindergarten at lunch time. Clay's class is out on the playground when I come. As I walk down to get Kaycee, I look for Clay and watch him run and slide into the pea gravel with some friends. I get Kaycee and start walking to the van watching Clay. He is still on the ground and I figure he probably crashed into someone. I waited for him to notice me and wave. As soon as he sees me he runs to me, starting to cry holding his ear.

"Clay, you were fine until you saw me, what's wrong."

"My ear hurts, there's a rock in it."

I remove the tiny pebble I can clearly see sitting in his ear. And, start looking around.

"It still hurts, there's a rock in there."

I twist and mangle his ear trying to get a better look into his waxy ear. I ask him to tilt his head just right so with the sun, I can get a good look into the ear canal.

Sure enough, there is another little pebble wedged just nicely in his ear. Hmmm, let's see here...

By now, one of the teacher's aids comes to me and asks if he's okay. We told her he has a rock in his ear and ask if the office has any tweezers. She walkie-talkies the front office and luckily they have tweezers - but they aren't allowed to use them on students.

"Can I use them and try and get this rock out?"

Sure enough I can use them. The teacher's aid asks Clay to show me to the office. But, before I can go to the office, I have to get Olivia and Lucy from the car. It wouldn't have been a problem if Olivia hadn't fallen asleep and I hadn't drug Lucy from the house without shoes on and still in her pj's. Oh well. I pull the stroller out and put Olivia in and carry Lucy, following Clay and Kaycee to the office.

As we come through the office, I pass a friend from church with two of her little ones - AND also a nurse. We get to the nurses station place and luckily a lady has tweezers skinny enough to attempt pebble removal. After sanitizing the untensil, and my friend helping me hold Clay's ear (and head!) just right, in one attempt, I stick the tweezers in and successfully retrieve the pebble!

By this time, Clay is happy and asking to go eat lunch. We say our good-byes and leave the way we came. Me, feeling pretty proud of myself.

***************************************************************

The other day, Kaycee is laying beside me.

"Mom, you stink. Do you know you're supposed to shower?"

***************************************************************

Lucy getting after Kaycee the other night in the kitchen:

"Kaycee, watch where I'm going"

It's fun being me.

Finding a Smile

1. Ryan and I, along with Olivia, were finding some date night treats at the grocery store. Olivia was close to being out of diapers and we didn't want to have to go to another store so, for the first time EVER, I decided to buy diapers at the grocery store. I found a box of diapers on sale for $19.99. Not too bad. So we went to check out. I watched as the teller rang up the diapers. The sale didn't come up. "These had a sale sign for $19.99." He leaves to go check. Sure enough, he comes back and says "yep, you're right, those are on sale." Apparently, at this grocery store, if things don't ring up correctly, you get them for FREE! Yes, FREE! A whole box of diapers that I didn't have to pay for! AWESOME! (ps. this grocery store, may or may not, sound like schmalbertsons).

2. The kids were asked to get their jammies on. I find Kaycee singing her heart out on her bed facing the wall (I love it when they sing). I love the way she belts songs out - whether she knows all the words or not, or even makes up her own. Several times at Sunday dinner over at Gma & Gpa H's, we'll hear KC's lovely music coming from the bathroom. It must have some amazing accoustics!

3. Clayton, Kaycee & Lucy bouncing on Gpa's lap while he sings:
"I went to the store
to get a pound of butter,
but when I got home,
it fell down in the gutter"
and they fall through his lap. They love that!

4. Lucy came into my room and found me beside some "potty treat" wrappers. With great, big eyes and a smile to match "you went potty, mommy? Good job! Good job, mommy - you went potty."

5.This one really shows my maturity! While feeding Olivia, I was watching part of the news last night. There's an e.coli outbreak here in Denver and so the news station was listing the symptoms. I couldn't get past #1. While it was read "stomach cramps," all I could see written was "stomach craps." I giggled and giggled.

6. Last night, I was telling Lucy she had a boogie on her nose. "This one?" She shoves her finger up one nostril. "no, the other." "Oh, this one?" her finger up the other side. "No, Lucy, it's on the outside." "Oh. " Now it's ON top of her nose. "It's right there now." Showing her on my nose. She finds it and tries to flick it on me!! What the? "Who taught you that??" Lucky for me it was still stuck on her nose. We'll just leave it there.
